Service of the Longest Night

The Christmas season is often marked by expressions of joy,
excitement, and happiness. It’s a time for family to gather and for churches to worship pointing to the hope that is found in the coming of the Christ child. However, this time of joy and expectation can often overshadow the pain and hurt many experience during this season, when the world’s merriment puts their grief and sorrow in stark relief.

If the Christmas season is not a time of joy, excitement, or
happiness because of the loss of a loved one, job, income, or some
other kind of loss, the members of Salem Lutheran Church
cordially invites you to attend “The Service of the Longest Night.”

This service provides the opportunity to hear God’s Word, offer
prayer, sing, light a commemorative candle, and receive a prayer shawl.

Refreshments and cookies will be served afterward to provide a time of fellowship to share stories, memories, and give words of encouragement.
